MIDDLESBROUGH'S development side maintained their recent good run with a creditable goalless draw at Manchester United.
Connor Ripley, Ryan Brobbel and Matty Dolan all returned to the Boro fold after recent loan spells, with the Teessiders more than holding their own against a Manchester United side that featured Fabio Da Silva, Will Keane and Federico Macheda, and also saw Wilfried Zaha enter the fray from the substitutes' bench.
Cameron Park saw a shot deflected wide just before half-time, with Bradley Fewster also coming close from a corner in the second half.
Keane had a second-half effort disallowed for offside and also saw a header saved by Ripley, while Manchester United defender Tom Thorpe headed over when well placed, but the Boro rearguard held firm.
Middlesbrough: Ripley, Halliday, Burn, Weledji, Bennett, Waters (Morris), Jones, Dolan, Fewster, Park (Kneeshaw), Brobbel (Kitching).
