SUNDERLAND will have to overcome Manchester United if they are to earn a first appearance at the new Wembley after tonight's Capital One Cup semi-final draw.
The Black Cats, who overcame Chelsea on Tuesday night, have been handed a home start in the two-legged battle against the Premier League champions and face having to see the tie out at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils overcame Stoke City in their quarter-final and manager David Moyes said: “We will have a tough semi-final against Sunderland.
"It's a cup game and Sunderland showed how well they can play to get that result against Chelsea. We are just pleased we got in to the semi-final.”
In the other semi-final Manchester City have been handed a home start against West Ham United. The Hammers defeated Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
The first leg of the semi-finals will be played during the week of January 6. The return leg will be during the week starting January 20.
