Coloccini doubt for Magpies
Newcastle skipper Fabricio Coloccini is a major doubt for this Saturday's visit of Liverpool.
The Argentine defender has had to withdraw from his country's squad to face Uruguay on Tuesday night.
A statement from the Argentine FA said: “The coaching staff today released Fabricio Coloccini because of a muscle injury.”
Now Newcastle boss Alan Pardew faces an anxious few days while the extent of the problem is assessed.
If Coloccini fails to recover in time to face Liverpool, Pardew could be forced to turn to Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to fill the void despite his lack of form.
