Play was abandoned at 4.20 with Derbyshire on 99 for one after 31 overs.
It's not looking good here, with the rain well set in, but things are looking up at Hove, where Sussex have rallied to reach 237-7 against Yorkshire. Wicketkeeper Ben Brown is 61 not out.
The rain arrived one over after lunch with Derbyshire on 99 for one. Meanwhile, the addition of Matt Prior to Sussex's ranks has done them no good - he's out and Sussex are 153-6 against Yorkshire.
There's still plenty of time for a few twists in the tail of this title race. Derbyshire are 95-1 at lunch, while Yorkshire have Sussex rocking on 117-5 at Hove. Durham have not bowled at their best and Derbyshire are a different kettle of fish since losing by 279 runs at Chester-le-Street in July. Paul Borrington is on 30 and Wayne Madsen has 28. If the forecast is accurate there might not be much more play here today.
The lights have been on at Derby since 11am but Durham have failed to shine. They put Derbyshire in, presumably because of the cloud cover, but took only one wicket in the first 25 overs.
The total was on 33 when Chris Rushworth knocked out left-hander Ben Slater's off stump, and the same bowler also had two lbw appeals turned down before Wayne Madsen got off the mark.
The score is now 72 for one and rain is expected after lunch.
Sports reporter Tim Wellock will be reporting throughout the day live from Durham's County Championship match away against Derbyshire.
