Steven Johnson starts against his former club as Darlington make three changes for this evening’s game against Shildon at Heritage Park.
The forward comes in for Adam Nicholls, who drops to the bench, while Joe Tait and Stephen Thompson are also recalled to the starting XI.
Thompson returns after missing last week’s win over Norton through suspension, while Darren Richardson, who deputised for Tait last time out, is among the substitutes. Amar Purewal is not in the squad.
Shildon’s keeper is Keith Finch, who came through the youth ranks at Darlington in 2000, while former Quakers utility player Phil Brumwell is on the bench.
Shildon won an FA Vase quarter-final replay at Ascot United on Saturday when Sam Garvie scored a hat-trick while the other strike came from Jamie Owens.
Owens also netted for Billingham Town against Darlington at Heritage Park early this season before moving to Shildon after turning down a move to Quakers.
Both Garvie and Owens start this evening, but there is no Chris Hughes, who is another former Darlington youth team player, as he sustained a knee injury in last week’s Durham Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to Spennymoor Town.
Hughes’ brother Craig, who also came through the ranks with Quakers, starts for the Railwaymen, who are 11th and have lost only two of their 11 league away games.
Darlington remain top, but their advantage over Spennymoor was reduced to 23 points on Monday due to their win at Team Northumbria. Moors play tomorrow evening at home to South Shields.
