HARTLEPOOL UNITED played out a second successive 0-0 home draw, as they were unable to find a way through Yeovil.
The point leaves Pools six short of safety in the League One drop zone, and they have lost just once in nine games.
But, on a day when their main relegation rivals all dropped points – only Portsmouth won and that was against Bury – there was a sense of a missed opportunity.
It took 35 minutes before a direct threat on goal, when Yeovil’s Paddy Madden thundered a drive off the underside of the crossbar, which bounced off the goalline to safety.
Ritchie Humphreys bent a shot wide for Pools right on half-time.
Scott Flinders made a low save to deny Ed Upson on 50 minutes, and shortly afterwards, he denied the midfielder again when his angled volley was pushed away.
From a Glovers’ counter-attack, James Hayter sent a weak header at Flinders from close range after taking a pass from Madden.
Pools’ best chance came on 84 minutes when substitute Antony Sweeney broke away, but poked his shot too close to Marek Stech.
