YORK CITY were looking to record a third successive home victory when they faced Exeter City, but two slips costs them dear.

The Minstermen started brightly at Bootham Crescent, but they were not able to make the most of the early openings they created.

The Grecians then took the lead in the 14th minute with a goal on the break after York lost possession on halfway and eventually the Minstermen’s Alex Rodman put through his own net when trying to scramble clear.

However, York soon hit back. Midfielder Michael Potts stabbed the ball beyond Artur Krysiak following a good move.

The visitors regained the lead eight minutes into the second half when Jimmy Keohane scored, again after a York slip.

Scott Kerr’s pass across the back put Jamal Fyfield under pressure, allowing Exeter to create an opening for Keohane.

York have now slipped a place to 15th in League Two.

Manager Gary Mills said: “I’m disappointed. I don’t think we deserved that, the players have worked so, so hard.”
