NEWCASTLE UNITED will play Metalist Kharkiv in the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Magpies were paired with the Ukranian side during this afternoon's draw in Nyon.

Metalist qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition after narrowly topping their group ahead of Rosenborg and Rapid Vienna, and currently sit fourth in their domestic league.

They have finished third in the Ukrainian top flight for the last six years and reached the quarter-finals of last season's Europa League before losing to Sporting Lisbon.

The winner over two legs will face either Germany's Hannover 96 or Russia's Anzhi in the last 16.

The draw also saw Liverpool paired with Zenit St Petersburg, Tottenham with Lyon, while Chelsea will face Sparta Prague.
