Pools lose Victoria Park shocker

HARTLEPOOL United somehow contrived to lose to a poor Barnet side at Victoria Park - as their familair failings in front of goal continued.

Despite dominating the game for long periods, Pools couldn't turn their chances in goals and, not for the first time this season, they paid the price.

New boy Darryl Duffy had a goal controversially ruled out for offside in the first half and they went onto miss chance after chance.

Micky Nelson hit the bar, Jon Daly saw a shot fumbled onto the bar and David Foley and Matty Robson both headed over from close range with the goal gaping.

Foley also had a strong penalty shout rejected after he was bundled over when he shaped to shoot.

And they were caught out with a classic sucker punch, as Pools lost possession and Barry Cogan cracked a 20 yard drive across Dimi Konstantopoulos into the corner of the net.

Pools were booed off at the final whistle, as the crowd made the feelings angrily known.
