TEESSIDER Jonathan Taylor will be chasing a fifth consecutive victory in tomorrow's Heaton Memorial 10K road race, which has attracted a limit field of 700 runners to Newcastle's Town Moor and Exhibition Park.

The 25-year-old Morpeth Harrier set a course record of 30 mins 04 secs recording his second victory in a row in 2009 and was only 19 seconds slower on a slightly altered course last year.

Taylor, who was the fastest back-marker leading the Northumbrian club to a Division One team victory in the opening senior men's handicap race in the North-East Harrier League at East Cramlington at the end of last month, has a personal-best 10K time of 29 mins 13 secs from last year.

Jarrow and Hebburn's Claire Simpson, the former North-East Harrier League champion, holds the senior women's record of 36 mins 25 secs, also set in 2009.

There will be a one minute silence before the start of the senior race at 11am and the timetable for the other events is: 9.45 am under-11 boys and girls; 9.55 under-13 boys and girls; 10.10 under-15 boys and girls; 10.25 under-17 and junior men and women.
