Hadouken! – Newcastle Carling Academy 14.05.08 After a year Hadouken! are back in Newcastle and the fans are hoping for something a bit more electric, and a little bit more crazy. After rapidly being known over the internet site "Myspace" the band have gained a pretty sturdy fan base. Now everyone is dying to hear the scene-bashing head spinning "That Boy That Girl".
Opener 'Bounce' is received well by the cyber-spaced crowd and was perfect for the crowd to dance themselves into a total frenzy. The venue mostly consisted of kids who not only knew all of the lyrics having downloaded the recorded tunes months ago, but were wearing home-made shirts which they quickly customised some more by splattering them with the contents of their complimentary glow-sticks. This tour was the perfect opportunity for Hadouken! to show off some of their newly created tracks that appear on their new album; Music For An Accelerated Culture. These went down a treat and the lyrics were sung back to Smith with an extraordinary amount of passion. The majority of the crowd loved Hadouken!'s performance, however they didn't seem to be playing up to scratch, or giving their all into each song.
The band left the stage and this gave the crowd just enough time to dust down their brightly coloured skinny jeans and adjust their hair. Soon after they were chanted back on by eager fans. Now was the moment everyone had been waiting for. "That Boy That Girl" as you might expect was the jaw dropper. The whole venue started moving, a spiralling circle of glow sticks hit the ceiling and sweat filled the air.
Overall Hadouken! prove themselves to be promising, but somehow unable to fully deliver their full potential.
