RE-view Battle of the Bands – Heat 1 South Park 12th April The Click event took place in South Park in Darlington on one cold and very wet Saturday afternoon in April. After their successful event, rE-view organised a Battle Of The Bands to celebrate and enjoy the young talent of The North East. The authentic old band stand was set up for the young bands to show the town what they are really made of! With a strong line up of Epic, Panic in Style, Inclusion and Girls Last Choice we prayed that the weather would brighten up so we could really enjoy the fantastic talent of these extraordinary bands!
Panic In Style set the evening off with a strong start. The vocalist was extremely impressive and managed to actually give the songs the credit they deserve. Their fresh sound of "indie-rock" blasted through South Park and gathered in the crowd. Their banter with the crowd was comical with simple observations of "look, a duck!" giving these happy-go-lucky' lads a positive response from the audience! Their songs were catchy and memorable, truly setting the standard high for the bands to follow!
Epic were soon to appear on stage and their presence was well and truly felt when the female vocalist belted out their first note. Her voice was phenomenal, so powerful and absolutely mesmerising! He voice only reflected the equally as impressive talent from the instrumentalists of the band; each member brought something special and unique which when all mixed together created a mind-blowing sound! Their talent is nothing short of astonishing and certainly impressed the audience watching.
Inclusion then followed with an extremely different style to any other band so far. Their scremo/rock' was unique and diverse, with a mixed reaction from the crowd those who liked it, loved it and those who didn't like it simply didn't understand it! But their enthusiasm and dedication was clear throughout their set. The instrumental side of it was impressive with fast and hardcore tracks!
Finally, Girls Last Choice made their way to the stage. A band that has only been formed for just over a year, the potential is clear when watching them live! They had a true passion for what they are doing, which shows during performance. With inspirational songs stating that it is actually ok to just be yourself' combined with an upbeat rhythm this band have already found their identity and putting it out their for all to see.
But there is only room for one winner. Epic came out on top as the proud winners of Heat one and therefore claimed their rightful place in the final on June 6th at Darlington Market square.
If you don't agree with this heats winner, you can always vote for your favourite band to be place automatically in the final as a wildcard. From May21st vote for the best band that didn't make it through the gruelling heats to give your preference another chance of winning!
