The Automatic – Middlesbrough Cornerhouse 18.04.08 The Automatic are not doing anything wholly original, and you probably haven't heard of them since the single "What's That Coming Over The hill?" It's clear that the rhythmical Welshmen attempt to clear their name of the one the hit wonders, that is being branded upon them day by day. They put a lot of energy into the opening song "That's What She Said", making a statement that they're making a new start, this wasn't a good idea because they had nil energy by around the third song.
Most of the bands song's musically sound the same, so if you're not a fan they could have possibly played the same song about four times. You knew exactly what each song was going to sound like before they even started playing, which takes away all the excitement of seeing a band play live. However Monster did suggest they could make their music sound a bit more interesting as they broke down their predictable sounds with a helpful amount of synth and some exiting guitar riffs. The crowd loved this song and the chorus was being sung back so loudly you could hardly hear the band itself.
If The Automatic want to regain their previous success they will have to come up with something a bit more original.
