Justice – Middlesbrough Empire 08.02.08 It's easy with regular bands, you know when to blame the sound system, and you know if they're miming. Yet when you have two men standing behind Apple Macs, frequently twiddling knobs on a massive board of buttons, you're easily reminded of rumours surrounding some robot loving electro kings, and whether they actually turned up at their own sets in the past. This is where Justice, a band consisting of two Frenchmen step in, with their very own twists of techno dance. Their main trademark is a large light-up cross that shines throughout their shows, they're a Christian band as you can tell by the name. However they're not here for church singing, they're here to start a party. "We Are Your Friends" seems to be the ultimate stand out track with the audiences urge to dance like crazy and this is what 80 per cent of the room has been waiting for all night and they get what they want. They get it good and grab it with full force.
It's hard to escape those familiar sounds similar to Daft Punk. They fuse tracks from their debut album 'Cross' together seamlessly, even dropping in a few Klaxons beats. And, as we're so used to these sounds continuing through the small hours, it's a shame that all's done and dusted by one in the morning.
