Forming in 2008, Misled Icons have become a large part of the North East music scene. Playing a mix of pop-punk and punk rock, whilst blending elements of hardcore punk into their music, the band have managed to find their own place in a genre too often filled by imitation bands of Green Day and blink-182. This hasn't gone unnoticed either. Misled Icons have had the chance to support 'The Lawrence Arms', 'Me vs Hero' and 'All or Nothing' over the last year. One of the highlights would be being called upon to play a show with legendary punk band 'The Damned' at Darlington's Inside Out at the end of 2009.
Their latest release, an 8 track EP entitled 'Thicker Than Shark Bait' captures the bands raw energy on record and gives a hint of what to expect at their live shows. Stand out tracks include 'We Mean Buisness' and a personal favourite, 'Taking Over'. Both songs are prime examples of the way Misled Icons make use of the best features of punk rock and fuse them together into one song. Fierce riffs, strong gang vocals and perfectly timed breakdowns are never a miss. There are plans to record again after the current 'You'll Never Win' tour, with 'Forgotten Roots' concludes in mid July.
Keep an eye out for the guys when they play at Groundfest, Darlington, at the end of July, as well as at Castle Calling (with 'The Futureheads'), Richmond, at the end of August. Full tour dates can be found on their myspace: www.myspace.com/misledicons
