Maybe Next Time, are a pop punk band from Darlington consisting of four talented teenagers. The lead singer David Murphy has a passion for music, and his obsession lies in the pop punk genius of legendary bands like Green Day and Blink 182. Christopher Ward whose signature “fro” compliments his astounding skills on lead guitar, shares David’s passion for Blink’s music. Bass player Dave Hanlon, whose inspiration comes from heavier pop punk and alternative bands such as Rise Against, began to play bass guitar only six months before the band formed, proving himself to be a natural. Last but most certainly not least Jakub Zagorowski, the North East’s answer to Travis barker, has played the drums since the age of eight. His music influences originally lied in popular metal bands like Lamb of God, but now Jakub admits he has a new found enthusiasm for pop punk music.
Maybe Next Time’s newly recorded single Don’t Let Go, is four and a half minutes of superbly crafted pop punk brilliance. The influence of Blink 182 clearly shines through; however this is expressed in their music through their own original sound.
The four pierce have amazing stage presence and know how to please the crowd as they perform popular covers such as St Jimmy by Green Day, and Dammit by Blink 182. A personal favourite of mine is their cover of My Only by Goodnight Nurse.
You can catch Maybe Next Time at The Big Local Band Night on the 19th March at Mowden Rugby Club and Slide Festival at The Empire in Middlesbrough on the 11th April. Listen to Maybe Next Time’s music and hear about their latest gigs and news at www.myspace.com/maybenexttimeuk.
