The two bands on this week were Last Chance Warrior and The Hyads.

First to impress the crowd were the local band, Last Chance Warrior from Darlington with:

James- Drums

Shaun- Vocals/ Guitar

Mark- Bass/ Backing Vocals

The band formed in July 2009 when one of Mark and Shaun’s friend found James so the band was complete.

After forming they stumbled upon a thought of “randomness” and came up with “Last Chance Warrior”.

They class themselves as Rock/Punk Rock and are influenced by the likes of Blink 182 and The Cribs and they would love to open for either Metallica or Blink 182, or maybe both!

If they could get anything for a gig they said they would like money, decent equipment (particularly a new drum kit) and a house and car- not too fussy then.

Each member has a favourite song to play but they are generally inspired for writing songs from early fall out boy.

The thought on NewBlood was it was scary and slightly intimidating, however they enjoyed it.

Whilst on stage they played a variety of their songs and also a cover. They opened with “Blink” and then played originals, such as “The Girl Song”. After a few covers they also played “Mr Brightside”, putting their own special little twist on the end.

To juice it up a little bit there was also a £5 dancing competition throughout the whole set, which encouraged the crowd to get up and have a good time.

For this week’s poll of “Biscuits or Cake”, Cake won for Last Chance Warrior with all of them choosing cake!

Keep an eye out for Last Chance Warrior as they are planning on many more gigs.

Headlining the evening were The Hyads, also from Darlington.

The Hyads consist of:

Mark- Bass

Dave- Vocals

Jon- Guitar

Terry- Drums

“The Hyads” came from a group of stars in Greek mythology, which inspired the band for a name.

They started in 2006 as friends in a band and it then lead onto gigs and now they have a record deal. They have also been voted best single on a new film with”Trouble on the Terraces” on the soundtrack.

They would love to open for the Beatles and at the moment their favourite song to play is “Trouble on the Terraces”, which was inspired at a football game and there was a commotion.

In order to play a gig they would ask for a Ferrari- each, of course.

In the last 12 months they have also had 2 million hits on their songs on MySpace.

They thought NewBlood cool second time round, as they have already played before and they especially liked the attendance for it.

Whilst on stage they played, obviously “Trouble on the Terraces”, “To No Avail”, “Every Time You Lie” and many more.

The crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves throughout the performance, clapping and jumping.

For the “biscuits and cake” poll, biscuits won with all four votes. Particularly due to the bourbon.

Keep an eye out for the Hyads as they are releasing a new single on March 16th, which the previous single reached number 6 on the American download chart. There is also the new movie- with soundtrack, which involves “Trouble on the Terraces”. They have also had “Trouble on the Terraces” nominated to be the song for the World Cup.
