Opera North's production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly held an audience at Newcastle Theatre Royal transfixed throughout, with riveting performances from a stellar cast.

Forming in 2008, Misled Icons have become a large part of the North East music scene. Playing a mix of pop-punk and punk rock, whilst blending elements of hardcore punk into their music, the band have managed to find their own place in a genre too often filled by imitation bands of Green Day and blink-182.

NewBlood is a fortnightly event for 14-17 year olds at a cost of £3, not including refreshments. The event allows local and low profile bands a chance to play to up the fans whilst expressing themselves. Every year Darlington plays host to a music and drama festival. This year the Darlington Festival for Performing Arts took place at Carmel RC College.

Struck by Kings, are an indie band, based in the North East. The band is made up of four Darlington boys, who formed after the original members of the band, vocalist Jake Turnbull and lead guitarist Thomas Howson expanded their acoustic act “Tom&Jake” as they were joined by drummer Glen Bowen and bassist Ross Latue.
