Newcomers on the electronic side of the charts Delphic, recently released their debut album Acolyte. The band released two singles last year “This Momentary’” and “Doubt”. Unfortunately “This Momentary” did not reach a place in the UK charts however “Doubt” reached number 79 in the charts. This was a good start for the band as they hadn’t even brought out their album yet. Delphic were nominated third in the BBC’s “Sound of 2010” beating chart topping “Owl City”. Over the years BBC’s “sound of…” has highlighted many new bands that have formed into popular artists throughout that year. The band start their album with the song “clarion call” which makes a gradual build up in tempo and volume getting the listener ready for the rest of the album. Then the album goes onto “doubt”,”Red Lights” and “This Momentary” all three catchy tunes and songs that make you want to sing along. Then the next song is a nine minute song called “Acolyte” that makes the album worthwhile for the listen. The song goes from slow to fast, then back to going slow again and then gradually builds up into a drum and synth solo which carries’s throughout the rest of the song, giving an interesting and relaxing feel to the song. Then the album goes onto “Halcyon” and “Submission” which keep the theme of the previous songs of a catchy tune and sing able lyrics. After this point the album goes onto a more reflective side giving the listener a laid back feeling.
