SHOWING a maturity that belies her years, Florence Rawlings has a voice that deserves to be played loud.

She may only be 20, but the depth of her soulful vocals give the impression she's been through a lot. I'm sure that's not the case, but when she sings of the ups and downs that life throws your way, you can't help but believe her. Florence certainly gives Joss Stone a run for her money.

Mike Batt pens half-a-dozen of the tracks, while Florence puts her own spin on songs by Ike Turner, Chuck Berry and Allen Toussaint.

Albums like this make sifting the through the chaff so rewarding.
