GOING OUT

Pizza Express at Teeside Park

In the last year, there has been a new chain restaurant opened in Teesside Park called Pizza Express. They have chains already opened in Darlington, Middlesbrough and other towns and cities round the U.K. and I went to the new restaurant to see how good it was.

The building itself was quite impressive, bending over in a sort of ark fashion, with a free car park next to it in close proximity of the building. When you first walk in, you get dumbstruck by the big lights they have hanging from the ceiling. You then, when you have your sight back, notice how the room is set out. There are quite cramped seating areas both to your left and right, with a wide isle down the middle which leads to the cooking kitchen which everyone can see, like in most other Pizza Express Restaurants. The Restrooms were to the left, and everything seemed quite well set out.

When I walked in, straight away I got directed to a table by one of the waiters. Once you are sat down, the lights don’t seem as bright and add quite a good effect to the room. The waiters then promptly give you the menu and rush off to serve someone else. Within two minutes the waiter was back and asked us what we would like to drink, which is quite normal at a restaurant. When told, he once again he rushed off in another direction. The drinks then came in a minute and then we were asked to order.

The menu itself is quite interesting, with most food being pizza, as obvious by title, with some salads and pasta dishes. The average main meal cost £8 and is a large plate full. The meal I had, the Il Padrino which cost £9.15, was a huge plateful with so much topping it was falling off the top. The pizza base was very good, light and crispy, and I though the overall restaurant had a nice pleasant feel to it.

I think this restaurant is very good, with a nice feel to it, pleasent fast waiters and overall sense of style 8/10
