When the Year 8 girls group at Hurworth were asked the question;
‘Magazines and media aimed at young women give information or advice which is…..?’
Here are some of the girls thoughts. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree lets hear your comments!
I think girls in the magazines are FAKE! I think this because it is not their normal self. In magazines they use computers so they make them look skinnier which they don’t need. They also use spray tans so they go browner. I don’t think they need any of this because they look nicer without all of that on them. I think girls who ruin their body just to be in a magazine are stupid because they are gorgeous the way they are.

Magazines and media aimed at young women give information and advice which is designed to get attention of these people. It will probably be make up,clothes, music, boys and other things which most young women are interested in. It will show young women what is fashionable and what the celebs are wearing and how they are putting their make up on and things like that, so this is what young people are interested in and so then tell their friends about it.

We think that models give out the wrong impression to women but especially teenagers by making on idea of a perfect look and going on about diets and how you need to stay in shape. In magazines it isn’t actually the models real shape or figure or skin colour. Pictures of the models are then altered on the computer to make them look better! To be a model you usually have to be super skinny, tall and very pretty but nobody is all of those, everyone has their own unique look and their own size without having to go on diets and have surgery to make them look younger or better. Some models may not be as fake as people make out, they may just be naturally pretty but a lot of famous models are known to of had a lot of surgery such as nose jobs, face lifts and loads more. Personally we think that plastic surgery is stupid and just looks 'fake but if other people think that it makes them look nice and makes them look younger then they can think that, there is no perfect look, figure Or skin colour, everyone is different and should be proud of who they are.

I think girls and women in the media are fake. It isn’t themselves as a real person, I think this for a few reasons, When I look in a magazine I think all the girls look nice. Behind all of that it isn’t what they really look like, here are some reasons why. They use airbrushes. They use a computer to make them look thinner. They use special stuff to hide spots.

Magazines show women who are very slim and very beautiful which makes average women feel inadequate as they feel that they should make themselves beautiful with plastic surgery and also diet to make their bodies beautiful.
