Depression

Absolutely anyone can suffer from depression. Whether you’re a student, a company executive, black, white, male or female, you could have it. But no one will fully understand what it is like to suffer with depression, until you actually have it yourself.

	Since Easter 2007, Pensbury Street Residents Group have been working closely with Lisa Kwok and Meirion Noble from Groundwork to redevelop the park area in between the houses on the street. As part of the redevelopment of the park, they wanted young people to take ownership of the project and have a sense of pride in their area.

	A lot of stigma is attached to the word (or rather the abbreviation as it stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) AIDS. It shocked me, and indeed the whole of the audience that were in the crowded viewing room, how much it has affected millions all over the world and how ignorant the general public can be towards something that is so serious and life threatening. The public association with AIDS is far from the reality.

	“Why does she have a bag on her side?” is one question that someone asked about me, people have borked in front of me, and I’ve had more people than I can remember exclaim “ERGH!” at me. I was the one everyone stared at in the school changing rooms when it came to P.E and finally in my last year at school my P.E teacher and school nurse thought that I had a hernia and asked me to go to the doctors to get it looked at.

	Heath Ledger vs. Westboro Baptist Church

	Usually following the death of someone such as Heath who was truly idolised by fellow actors and public alike, the world pauses to pay tribute to the memory of the deceased and to share prayers of sympathy with those who truly loved that person. So, I ask as I’m flicking through the vast media coverage, why is it that Westboro Baptist Church can’t find it in themselves to respect the wishes of Heath’s family and give them space to grieve?
