28 Weeks Later

The infection strikes again in a newly rebuilt Britain.

This film is set 28 weeks after the initial outbreak of the virus. An area of London has been rebuilt and repopulated once the virus was considered "Dead". The story follows two children and their dad as they move back in the city. With everything being new the children feel a bit homesick, so leave the safety of the city to there old house to pick up some personal objects. Whilst there they fine their mum, alive! She has been bitten, but due to a rare blood condition she has immunity to the virus, but is still a carrier, the virus is re-spread through her.

This film has a lot more suspense and gore that the original movie which sound please fans. The gore is done on a realistic level, without going too far such as other recent movies. One of the films storylines follow the life of an infected and the torment the person is going through. This shows what the virus does to people who haven't seen 28 days later (and also the ones who have!) my favourite scene is where the two kids and Scarlet have to travel through the pitch black subway in London. The scene is shown through a point of view shot looking through the scope of a gun with night vision. I found this inventive and helped build tension.

DVD extras There is a limited amount of special features compared too other films. Included on the DVD are behind the scenes footage, including interviews with the director and actors. There is also an option to listen to the director's commentary through the film.

Also included on the disc are two comic book storylines, which show the missing gaps from before the outbreak and how some survived after the infection outbreak. These will be interesting to fans of the series.
