“She's as magical as the desert sky, and as mysterious as her own name. Nobody knows who she is or where she's from. But everyone loves her for being different. And, she captures Leo's heart with just one smile. "Stargirl" is a classic of our time that celebrates being true to ourselves and the thrill of first love. It is a life-changing read that touches souls of all ages” – Jerry Spinelli “Stargirl” is about a girl who starts Mica High, in Arizona but lets just say, she doesn’t get the warmest of welcomes. She originally was home schooled, but at 15 she and her parents decide to send her to public school. Once she starts she imeadietly gets known as strange.

At lunch on the first day she meets Leo, whose eyes the book is in, and imeadietly she gets attracted to him. This worry’s him in a big way. But soon all the hate gets resolved at a Mica High football game, when Leo’s friend, Kevin notices her cheering. The whole school flooded to the game, unlike usual. The school wouldn’t usually go to the games because the team wouldn’t win, but this time they did. Mica High went on a winning streak and the pupils became obsessed. The head cheerleader talked to Stargirl and Stargirl became a cheerleader. At the games she would cheer, for both teams. At this point the school didn’t mind her cheering but then the team lost and Stargirls multi-cheering was blamed. The school suddenly turned against her and when she appeared on “Hot Seat”, the schools TV production everyone went against her and all the home truths came out.

After a while Stargirl and Leo talk. This resolves in the very next day Stargirl has left and the original Susan comes back. This is because Stargirls real name is infact Susan and so she tries to be normal like everyone else but the plan fails and Stargirl returns.

You may be shocked at the ending so I am not going to spoil it. It is an interesting book and if you like strange books you will thoroughly enjoy it.
