Not only is he a talented actor, scholar, comedian, presenter and voice actor; he also writes cracking fiction novels too! This well structured, all rounded title will keep you turning pages!

Based around the comic ‘mental inventions’ of the character Adrian Healey and his life from Cambridge school to his adventure with his Professor, Trefusis, and when you just think you have him figured out, twists and turns appear, you’ll have to figure out which of the tales of this unreliable narrator are true!

Fry is an amazing writer! This novel will have you laughing from the very outset! You’ll chuckle at the little inside jokes, pranks and homosexual references that Adrian has with his fellow schoolmates! A bit graphic in places, but you soon get used to it as normal for the character. The story, although complex at times, will wrap itself up to a balanced ending, revealing any mysteries mentioned earlier and leaving you very pleased!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it one of the many few that I will actually wish to pick up and read in my spare time and can’t wait to pick up again! An extremely funny read, with complex and interesting characters, in-jokes and a different approach to writing at the beginning of the chapters, changing perspectives. I feel, as with every novel, a piece of the author is within this story and not in a bad way, it is a purely positive thing. If you have enjoyed any other of his novels or even the man himself, this is definitely a book for you!
