Sorry everyone who reads this review for this is the second book in a series so don't read ahead if you haven't read the first one as it may spoil the first one for you.
Anyway this book is about a rather viscous dark elf called Malus Darkblade who is a highborn from the great city of Hag Graef. In this sequel our good friend Malus is returning from the Chaos Wastes after his last expedition with saddlebags full of booty and a rather amusing demon that has imbued Malus with his presence. The demon is called Tz'arkan whose nickname is the drinker of worlds (pretty groovy) and this demon can lend Malus his strength and repair his wounds. But the demon has not just latched on Malus for any reason Mr. Darkblade has to recover 5 magical items (and a shrubbery) to free this demon from his fleshy prison, but there is a catch he only has a year in which to do so.
When Malus arrives back at the city he is under arrest but a couple of bribes get him past that. His next item is found on an island which is overrun with the Skinriders who are a Nurgle worshipping bunch of people who attack corsair ships as they return from pillaging trips. So Malus needs to get to this island, to do this he must enlist the help of his crippled brother mage Urial.
This is a stonking book so read it if you can but read the first one before hand otherwise you wont have a clue what is going on. 5 out of 5 loads of violence jokes and a fair bit of romance and quite a few oh shi- moments.
