FROM Disneyland to demolition, the final photographs for The Bowes Museum's photography competition have been selected by judges.

The competition, which was launched to celebrate the exhibition Only in England which runs till May 7, has attracted scores of photographers to get out and about with their cameras.

The shortlist of entries for the over 18s category includes pictures from Christopher Booth, Thomas Banks, Alan Brown, Fred Wilkinson and Chris McSherry.

Amy Spires, Keith Johnson and Meghan Hemsley also made the final ten.

The winner of the competition will receive a £1,000 cash prize and the two runners up in the over 18s category will each receive an Impossible camera.

The shortlist of entries for 11 years and under include photographs taken by Maisy Ayres, six, Libby Pearson, five, and Ryan Pearson, eight.

The final three entrants for the 12 to 17 category are Penny Park, 17, Ella Brewster, 17, and Martha Voughan, 12.

The winners of the younger categories will each receive an Impossible camera.

All of the entries have been judged by a panel and a prize-giving event is due to take place later this month.

Northern Echo photographer Sarah Caldecott, who is on the judging panel, said: "We have had hundreds of entries submitted to the competition, which is just fantastic.

"Jordan Claire, a Bowes Museum photographer, and I chose a shortlist of ten photographs. It was a very tough decision as there were so many high quality images that suited the brief.

"The top ten have been sent to photographer Martin Parr who will choose the top three and the winners will be announced at an event with all of the finalists on May 19."
