MORE than 100 pooches and their owners have stepped out to support a County Durham hospice.
The sponsored dog walk took place at the Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street to raise money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham.
Dogs and their owners made the most of a sunny day to parade around the park for Paws for a Cause, with many also taking part in a dog show.
All together, more than 100 dogs took part in the walk, choosing between a 1.5 mile and 3 mile route, raising more than £1,200 for the service.
Jade McArdle, community events coordinator said: “Paws for a Cause is always such a fun event for us and all the dogs seem to really enjoy it.
“We couldn’t have hoped for a better day weather wise and we’ve had great comments all day from everyone taking part.
“It was wonderful to see everyone having a good time while raising funds for the hospice.”
The fun dog show included a fancy dress competition and classes to find Durham’s happiest dog, prettiest pooch and handsome hound.
The hospice provides day care and in-patient care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
