I HAVE read The Northern Echo for many years. But why isn’t there a “Durham Day’ to celebrate all the good things that County Durham has to offer – the Spring Gentian flower, Durham’s famous food, I suggest Leek Pudding?
I am a Yorkshireman by birth and have lived in County Durham for almost 50 years. I still consider myself to be a Yorkshireman and celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1 each year.
I wear a white rose with pride and have white roses in the house amongst other ways to celebrate the day. Please let us have a Durham Day so I can celebrate that day as well.
