Letters: 'Half-an-hour free parking in Northallerton half “neither nowt nor summat”'

Only half an hour of free parking is pretty useless.

It just doesn’t give you enough time.

No wonder there are empty shops on the High Street, and empty shops mean fewer business rates for Hambleton District Council. Thirsk, Bedale and Stokesley give you one hour free parking which is sensible and realistic.

So, come on the powers that be and give us an hour. To use an old Yorkshire expression, half an hour is “neither nowt nor summat”.
