I SEE that the artist Banksy stepped up in early July to save 17 libraries in Bristol from threatened closure.

I hope it’s not too late for Darlington Borough Council to consider a Baldrickesque cunning plan to save the Edward Pease Free Library in Crown Street – let’s change its name to Bristol Library, get it added to the Bristol Library endangered list and leave a message on a wall somewhere quite central in Bristol to tell Banksy that there’s one more branch not quite in Bristol so he can save our library too. These are desperate times...
