HOW nice to see the photo (Echo, July 11) of children in the Yorkshire Moors enjoying an educational day out listening to the lapwings and seeing the bell heather.

It’s a far cry from what they will see and hear on August 12.

The air will be filled the noise of double-barrelled shotguns and the smell of gunpowder, as beautiful birds are blasted out of the sky.

It beats me what they must be thinking going to and from the shoot but it’s just the same as fox hunting, where a conscience isn’t needed.
