I REFER to Jeremy Corbyn’s interview published in Friday’s paper (Echo, July 13) and his statement: “Areas such as Durham have been on the wrong end of a 30-year free market economic experiment which has placed the interests of big finance over the interests of working class communities. Labour will use Brexit to make sure communities like this get proper control of our economy and democracy.”

During those past 30 years we had Labour Governments for 13 years, from 1997 until 2005 – 13 years, during which time Jeremy was a Labour Party Member of Parliament who defied the party whip and failed to support his Governments on 482 occasions.

Well, can we trust Jeremy to deliver for the North or is it another of his pious promises, waiting to be broken?
