WHY do ignorant people throw their rubbish for someone else to pick up?
Glass bottles are especially a problem for a dog walker like me.
Children or irresponsible people love to smash these bottles for fun. I’ve often picked up a few items myself and put them in the bin, but I gave up as it’s never ending.
When I was at school many moons ago, I would walk the streets on my hour lunch break picking up beer bottles etc, and cashing them in at the off licence.
Five pence or so then 50 years ago for each bottle meant I could have a treat or two.
Nowadays there is no charge on bottles and we could all do with a few more bins – especially the one outside McColl’s at the Parsons Centre in Newton Aycliffe which is always overflowing.
