WHO has come up with the idea of removing the present bollards situated in Bishop Auckland from theatre corner down the whole of each side of the Newgate Street into the market place?

My family and all of our friends are appalled at their removal without any consultation.

The design of the present ones are of a symbolic significance with a Bishops Mitre fitted onto a sturdy base, constructed from a good quality iron, approx. 3ft high, in two colours black and red which are easily visible.

We do have the Bishop of Durham living here, also the Auckland Castle which gives Bishop Auckland a very high ecclesiastical Christian importance.

They are being replaced by some flimsy unattractive 3ft high pieces of black metal.

I sure someone will give an explanation upon this vandalism and also where are they going, not the same place as all the trees that were removed from the market place because we know what happened to them [cut up].

I would like to see them repositioned into the grounds of the Bishops Castle.
