IT has risen once before and I believe it will rise again. For this to happen the council who own Redcar’s much loved Regent Cinema must act now and not let the dust gather.

The Redcar seaside favourite remains closed for the foreseeable future.

Damages and defects are many.

Number one priority is to find out exactly how much this will cost to repair, then get the ball rolling.

What we don’t want is what Middlesbrough South Tees Development team are doing at the moment, announcing projects 25 years into the future.

For the Regent to rise again action has to be immediate, ongoing and swiftly executed.

We have a magnificent new sea front and the cinema truly compliments this. It also boosts tourism.

The Regent is part of the town’s heritage, it’s just as important as the clock.

And let’s not forget the Regent was the main star of the WW2 drama Atonement in 2007.

Under the New Pavilion banner stars such as Larry Grayson graced the stage. And Roy Castle aged only 17 made one of his very first live appearances at Redcar as a comedy and dance act in the summer of 1949.
