I READ with interest your article by Catherine Priestley about the rubbish tip on the embankments approaching Bishop Auckland railway station, unfortunately I cannot accept Network Rail’s response to this matter saying that this was cleaned up five months ago.
I know that this has never been attended to for a lot of years as I walk past it nearly every day, as to them harping on about trespassing on the railway it would be obvious to anyone with any sense that the litter is being thrown over the high metal fencing.
As to Network Rail stating they are working closely with transport police to stop this sort of behaviour, what a laugh, it is a very long time since I saw a proper policeman on the streets of Bishop Auckland, so a fat chance of seeing one on the railway.
