LAST month I was admitted to Bishop Auckland General Hospital for a total hip replacement.
At the age of 73 and having never been admitted to hospital, I was very apprehensive, however I needn’t have worried. Upon admission I was met by staff who immediately put me at ease.
During my recovery on the ward the care and attentiveness of the team was nothing short of fantastic.
The three days I spent on Ward 18 made me realise how lucky we are to have a local hospital which is staffed by people dedicated to their job.
Given the negative publicity the NHS often receives - my experience has made me realise that we have an excellent local health care service.
