I WAS surprised by Harry Mead’s column today (Echo, Mar 7) where he refers to Steve Bannon as a “highly respected international figure.”
Bannon is regarded as the source of Donald Trump’s more extreme and often untrue claims such as that Barack Obama was not born in the USA, and has often made statements verging on racist in their content.
His close association with Breitbart News, an extreme altright publication surely debars him from an epithet as a “highly respected international figure.”
I have always regarded Harry as coming from a soft leftish point of view. I may have to revise my opinion.
