IT was interesting to read Steve Kay’s comments regarding the National Anthem.

To me "God save the Queen" is fundamentally flawed, as not once does it mention England.

How anyone can be vigorously patriotic about it is beyond my understanding. No wonder some footballers decide not to participate at national games.

Yes, these are testing times for our country, and we need to face them together. We may never regain our former pre-eminence as a world power, but subjugation to the European Union is inevitable if we remain. The English, it would seem, are less nationalistic, or perhaps we lack the stirring anthems of others.
