THE recent announcement of the closure of the ticket offices at Eaglescliffe and Chester-le-Street railway stations puts the advantages and disadvantages of online (ticket) availability into focus.
Following the closures of local bank branches because of the apparent increase of online banking makes one wonder if this technology is really desirable at all costs.
As more people are also shopping for clothes, food and drink online it is to be expected that future redundancies will automatically follow.
At least the Government cannot be blamed.
