WITH reference to the article about the Little Burdon Farm buildings on the outskirts of Sadberge (Echo, Jan 27).

I have noticed in passing over time on how these buildings have deteriorated at a rapid pace since becoming vacant.

The farmstead was once the home of the Barron family who were noted for their keeping and breeding of the heavy Clydesdale horses and won many prizes at shows.

The buildings, which are of historical value and Grade II listed, have been allowed by Darlington Borough Council, English Heritage and MAP Architectural to reach this state.

Not only they, but also by the present owner, one John Henry Jasper.

Too many old buildings of architectural character, historical value and interest are being allowed to reach a state as these and then are lost as our past.
