ANNA Soubry, Antoinette Sandbach, Sarah Wollaston, Jonathan Djanogly and Sir Oliver Heald.

Five rebels who voted against the Government on an amendment to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill (Echo, Dec 14).

I’ve only mentioned these five as the majority in their constituency voted to leave.

Who were they voting on the behalf of? Certainly not their constituency as the majority voted to leave.

Certainly not for the country as 17.4 million people will verify, and certainly not for their party.

So who were they representing, if not themselves, and their 15 minutes of fame?

These five actually held the balance of power which could have reversed the outcome, the country being held to ransom by these nonentities.

If they are not deselected they should do the honourable thing and resign.

They can then stand as independents and come the election see how many of their constituents agree with the action they have taken.
