I READ in the Echo (Dec 5) an advert showing the Bobby Thompson DVD is being banned because he is smoking and telling jokes which might offend women.

Having seen Bobby Thompson live he was a fantastic comic who never swore once and is head and shoulders better than the rubbish we see on television. I can remember women coming out in droves to see little Bobby and if the smoking is the reason (for the ban) what about all of the old films where practically everyone is smoking - are all these going to be banned?

Also they said it might encourage heavy drinking.

Watching the current set of comedians on Live at the Apollo would be enough to drive most of us to drink.

I THINK banning the advert for Bobby Thompson, is stupid considering the rubbish shown on TV. What wants banning is the swearing by many so-called comedians.
