REGARDING the ongoing debate about cycles been ridden on footpaths. It is illegal to ride a cycle on a footpath but the police seem to turn a blind eye to this happening.
The cyclists say it is safer for them as they are out of the way of traffic.
If they want to ride on pavements they should have to have some sort of insurance in place the same as cars and other vehicles.
In fact any cycle should have to have insurance as they can cause accidents on the road as well as any other vehicle.
If this was made law then we would only have legal cyclists on the road.
Anyone caught without insurance should have their cycles taken off them and made to pay a fee if they want it back also anyone caught riding on pavements.
