I FIND Tony Kelly’s opinions (HAS Nov 1) very jaundiced.

There are 20,000 fewer police now than there were before Tory austerity.

Many are taken off the streets to police things like the fracking protests in North Yorkshire.

Considering this you are unlikely to see them walking the streets as beat areas are doubled.

Yes, they turn up after the incident. I find it hard to see how they would be expected to turn up before it.

I have had few causes to interact with the police but on the odd occasion I have, they have always been polite and helpful.
