THERE has been much debate in the Echo about LED streetlights, but driving this is the unprovable notion of human-caused climate change.

There is worse to come. We can expect a gradual attack on even the most modern gas appliances, by withdrawal of spares and relentless propaganda against them.

Notice how we are now bombarded with drastic air pollution warnings, but never any statistics on limits and transgressions thereof, the type of measuring equipment used and where and when it was done.

Now the internal combustion engine is threatened with extinction, on vagaries such as this.

Scientific work now exists that shows the warming seen since 1850 may soon cease. By then, siren voices will have lured the good ship Albion onto the rocks of Perfidy, where she will be fatally breached.

No-one will hear the lamentations of the stranded crew, or could care less anyway. If Mrs Thatcher were still aboard, her cries and teeth-gnashing would be loudest. Mark my words, the Climate Change Act (2008) will result in an unparalleled social and economic disaster for Britain, unless immediately repealed.
