I FAIL to understand the problems with the recently installed street lighting. I presume that we have lights in Stockton similar to those in Darlington and to me they are entirely adequate.

The problem is that too many people seem to want excessive lighting, without any regard for the environment. Hence we have totally unnecessary lighting in buses and trains and in public buildings during broad daylight. One of the benefits of the new street lights is that they give us darker skies.
