MIKE Taylor’s suggestion (HAS 9 Oct) that cats can be trained brought a smile to my face. A dog can be trained between the periods it waits for you to feed it, a cat trains you whilst spending its time working out how to eat you!
I do not doubt that cat owners believe they love their pets in much the same way dog owners say their dog understands every word that’s said to them. To test this theory ask the next dog you encounter what’s the square root of 78.
